I purchased an air ticket online on gotogate.com
Upon payment receipt, i noticed that autocorrect misspelled the last name of one of the passengers (my mistake). The purchase was finalised at 7.14pm on Jan 21st (credit card payment confirmation) and i was on the phone to the UK call centre as early as 7.20pm (plus a 22 minutes long distance wait).
I was informed that the airline cancellation was free, but the site would charge 50USD per passenger cancellation fee. This fee sounds illegitimate given the amount of online consumer protection, and even though it was my mistake, it was a mistake that could not be rectified.
I have submitted a formal complain with the EU regulator, ABTA and UK consumer right but still hope that we can resolve this amicably before the authority steps in.
